ame home last night to find one of my guppies has lost about 3/4 of its yellow tail. This mornin there is no sign of it anywhere...it may be under a large log i have.

Can angels attack them ot is it more likely to be one of my miollies that ive seen be a bit aggressive at times during feeding??

Also my nitrite i constant at 1, keep doing 50% changes but it seems to stay the same!!

Ive now got 2 angels, 2 guppies 3 mollies 3 neons and 2 plecs

Ok im not an expert by any means, but im pretty sure your angels will attack anything with big fins. Nitrite at 1 is pretty bad, looks like your tank is not cycled and you have some big fish in there for a new tank. My LFS says 3 months before you put a plec in a new tank, and it looks like your ammonia is turning into Nitrite but the nitrite is not processing.

You need to be doing a couple of water changes a day at least, do a 50% now then a 50% at dinner and maybe a 25% at night. You need to get rid of that nitrite its hurting your fish >.>

If you wouldn't do water changes it may climb to 4 or 5 ppm so you have to dilute it constantly. Nitrite highs last longer than ammonia highs so it can take some times with daily water changes, unfortunately.

How many gallons is the tank.
Angels can nip the fins of the guppys so I wouldn't keep them together.
Once a guppy losses half of its tail they tend not to make it as they struggle to swim and wear themselves out.

You have compatibility problems. Your angels most likely are picking on the guppy as they are not compatible. Angels are cichlids which mean they can be aggressive. They should not be housed with small fish.

Mollys are aggressive as well and need a bit of salt in their tank. So I would separate the guppies from that tank. I would add melafix to help with the gyppys tail so it does not get infected.

What size is your tank? How often do you clean it? How long has the tank been set up? And what are your other water parameters, Nitrate, ammonia and pH?

For your nitrites for now you should feed lightly and keep doing water changes. Also when you clean your filters never run them in tap water, always gently rinse the media in tank water.

So you have some aggressive fish in with your guppies so please separate them some how. How are the angels and mollies getting along?

The tank is 2 1/2 weeks old. fish were put in same day the water was ooops!
its 50 a ltr tank.

Ive been changing 50% water 4 5 times a week.
Ive seen one mollie and an angel attack my wee guppy. The other 2 left seem fine.

The one that has lost its tail doesnt look like its suffering it tends to hide under the log but is struggling to swim. Do their tails GROW BACK??

I would still seperate the guppies. The mollies and angelfish are to aggressive for them. They tail should grow back, depending on how far down they bit it off.

You tank is probably not cycled yet so you are going to have a lot of problems and you will have to keep an eye on your water.
