So im thinking about setting up an all guppie tank in my spare 29 gallon tank. I want to breed them and stuff.

What do you guys think?

im going to go for planted, but i really do not want gravel, what are my other alternatives.

What do you guys think about this.

I think it's a great idea! For a substrate you can use aquarium sand(whish is lots of different safe sands for aquariums or you can you playsand.

Play sand is generally too light. Pool filter sand is a good choice once you've rinsed it out for the lighter particles.

Planted tanks aren't an easy thing to do. Check out Plant Geek for the type of plants you'd like in your tank. Plans have all kinds of differen needs. Some need high lighting and higher nutrient levels. You're going to want to look into higher lighting and fertilizer dosing. If you don't have a good balance, you get algae. I'm sure you can read up on it in the planted section here, or you can Google search "estimative index dosing" for more information.

Ive have plants. Ive had fish for quite a while. Thank you for the concern though.
