:dunno: Approx. how long does it take for male guppy fry to sart to develope thier color in their tails. I know it depends on water condition, temp and diet I am just looking for smoe anwsers from so of you who have raised them in the past. First batch of fry and they have doubled their size in about a week. Hoping for a large crop of females to get my stock up so I can get the breeding going as I have a LPS who wants to buy them from me for $3 at on inch size and some tail colr in the males Thanks in advance

With my males - at a month I see the very first start of the colour development, by 2 months I can usually tell what the colour will probably be like and by 3 months they look like males with colour and their tails are starting to develop their shape. They continue to develop more colour and shape as they grow. I take mine to the lfs when they are 3 - 4 months old - their bodies are strong and well grown, their tails and bodies have plenty of colour.

That is a very good price for your guppies

sue :D

from 3 weeks their tales will darken like black and that will be the pattern which theyll have 6 weeks that darkness will turn to colour slowley then by 3 months theyll have ful colour
hope that helps

With my guppies I have found a ratio of about 3 or 4 to one females to males. I got 3 males and about 9 females in my first batch. In my other batchs it was about the same.
