the male guppy keeps on resting on the ground, or keeping closed to the ground.i dont know if i should be worried, but is it how guppies sleep or something? or is it a kind of illness? he sometimes swim closed to the ground (~1 cm away from the ground). any answers would be awesome!

I notice that alot of livebearers do that. I know my male swordtails and platys do. How big is your tank? What are the water parameters, and how many fish do you have? Is your tank cycled? How often do you do water changes?

my tank is 2 gallons. i dont know what my water parameters are, since i dont have a kit to test it. i only have two guppies (one male and one female) and i got them at the same time. i dont think its cycled cuz i only kept my tank running for three days. i didnt do any changes yet since i only got them yesterday. please help me!

You need to get a test kits. Chances are you have ammonia in your tank because it is not cycled. You also need to do a large water change. Are you dechlorinating your water?

ok. do you know how much it cost for a test kits (approx.)? im going to change the water right now. and yes im dechlorinating my water.

also, i think this is kinda weird, cuz only my MALE swims at the bottom while my female is swimming happily in the tank.

Depends on the test kits. The strips arent terribly expensive. I find that the strips arent as accurate so I use the master test kit, which ran me about 30 dollars. If you cannot get a test kit, take a water sample to your local fish store to have it tested. They may also be just reacting to a new environment, but if the tank was not cycled, then you have just started a fish-in cycle and you definatly want to stay on top of water changes and water monitoring as ammonia can and will kill your fish. But if you are on top of your maintanance, your fish should do fine. I still have my fish from my fish in cycle a year ago.

i changed partially of the water and i added a bit more water conditioner. once i poured the conditioner in, the male sprang to life and started following the female :hyper: i guess probably i didnt add enough water conditioner before  ill try to get a test kit, and ill monitor the water daily now. Thank you so much for your help! :) now the male's just living up there.

Thats good to hear. Just keep up on those water changes while building your biological filter :)
