Hello everyone, I'm new to having fish...so excited. When I bought my fish my guppy was pregnant. I learned this by reading your helpful forum and noticing how big she was. Anyway, I put her in a holding tank and lo and behold she had babies (9 of them). This was about 2 weeks ago, and she's still big...This might be a stupid question, but will she have more? I read on this forum that someone's guppy had a lot more babies than mine.

Can someone help me.

Female guppys' chests are always convexional, and they always look kind of chubby. Guppies can stagger the birth of their fry, they don't always have them all at the same time, but after 2 weeks I would suspect she is done.

Guppies are livebearers, and most livebearers can hold fertilised eggs inside them for a long time. Like OrkyBetta said, most females drop their fry all at once, but some have them in small 'installments'. :)

If her belly gets bigger, I'd put her back in the holding tank if she isn't still there. She may not be done birthing yet.

she most likely is pregnant again, you will know if she gets bigger in the next two weeks

She's pregnant again. They can't have their fry over more then 1 week, usually. So I'd expect another batch of babies in a few weeks!

And she may have either had fewer fry, because she's younger, or smaller, or whatever. Or she could have eaten fry. Or other fish could have eaten fry, if she had any tankmates. Don't worry about it though, it's normal to have smaller batches. :)

I waas thnking the same thing, she pregnant again.
