Guppy Question

Why do you want them to stay at the surface? I would suggest putting bubbles at the top so the fish will play in them, my fish love them!

You really can't encourage a fish to do something; however if they're staying at the bottom I'm inclined to think something is wrong. What are your water stats?

its not that they are always staying at the bottom of the tank, they just go down there every now and again and my blue lobster has had 2 for dinner and i only got them yesterday, they seem perfectly healthy so its not that they are unwell, they just peck around, do you think maybe they will eventully get the messge and just stay away from him ?

Unlikely.

Rehome either the lobster or the guppies to a different tank, otherwise your lobster will eat them all.

Probably not... best take all of them out, fish shouldn't be in a tank with other fish that can eat them unless they're intended as feeders. My platies hide sometimes and a lot of times try to find debris or food at the bottom to eat, so it's fairly normal.

guppies naturally go all over the tank you cannot encourage them to stay in a certain area, mine spend most there time in the bottom 2/3s of my tank, only time there at the surface is when feeding, best to remove them unless you want them eaten too

the guppies are only in that tank for a short time as i am getting a 30g for them VERY shortly so i will just keep a very close eye on them
