Hi! I seem to be having big problems in my guppy tank. It is a 45 gallon tank. the levels are: nitrate- 5.0, Nitrite- 0, Ammonia- 0, Ph- 7.6 temp is at 78 f) I have lost three females and two males in the last week. The girls have showed signs of velvet and cotton mouth. The boys show no signs of anything other that both had one side fin that was sticking out when I took them out of the tank (I don't know if that has anything to do with anything) I had another female that died a few weeks ago but she was quite large (and I think ready to have babies) I noticed her back end by her anas was buldging (pink and meaty looking) she was pooping fine but just had that buldge. When I took her out of the tank after she died I noticed her abdomin was soft and when squeezed a little just turned to moosh. I noticed some embryos (I think) small clear yellow balls. Can females get bound up some how? I have a platy that had the same thing happen. (I have pictures of the platy but I don't know how format them for this fourm.)

Back to my current problem...I now have one female in a hospital tank that looks like she has some raised cottony looking scales that started on her back last night and today is all the way around her abdomin. I also have three boys I put in the hospital tank that have small patches on them too. I put some Maracyn-Two in the tank and some copersafe (it is a 5 gallon tank) The tank used to house my fry and has been up and running for about three months or so. Any ideas?? Thanks!

Keep up with the maracyn.
Saddleback columairs goes along the back and down the sides to form a saddle shape that where it get its name from.
It will look flufffy.
the female sounds like she had a prolapse of the anus.
R.I.P.

It's hard to say, because some fish are strong enough to make it through treatment some are not. It depends on the fish, how tough it is, and how early you caught the problem. Just be sure to keep on top of treatments and you should be good.

Good Luck! :good:
