have a female guppy that looks pregnant, transferred her to another tank, but, after two weeks no delivery. Can fish get cancer or something else is wrong.
Feed her only three times a day, and variety of food..like breakfast is frozen brine shrimps, lunch is thawed out skinless peas, and for dinner the usual fish flakes.
Is this too much for her...or what?....help! :/

It's possible she could be bloated or constipated...how much do you usually feed? And just in case, what are the water params?

Also, when Guppies are pregnant, they can get very fat pretty early in the pregnancy if they are a large female, or they have big batches. Does she have a gravid spot? :)

no, she does not seem to be bloated....she discharges after eating. the gravid spot your talking about, it is kinda of pinkish, not black.
Her sisters though are smaller than her, and thier gravid spot is dark, but, don't seem to be pregnant.
Wierd....very wierd...

I have a a similar strange thing with my balloon molly. She is gorgeous, sexually mature, and really a nice healty fish.

The males LOVE her and she is constantly getting 'fertilized'.

She has NOT had any babies at all and I have had her for months. My other female is dropping fry every month. Its bizarre.

I do think she reabsorbed fry twice. Twice she was HUGELY preg, with dark spot, and slowly she shrank back down quite gradually. I had her in a maternity tank ALONE and NO BABIES!

I am hoping eventually she will decide to have those fry, I suppose there is the off chance that she is sterile, tho unlikely.

fawnmodel, there is just the chance she ate her own babies, some of them do.

Still, it is an intriguing question. My guppy seems to be in a permanent stage of mid-pregnancy these days, but there are no fry and she never seems to get any thinner. I know she can do it though as she has had 2 healthy fry in the past. Again, I know she is capable of scoffing any offspring before I catch sight of it. Oh well, perhaps I should be grateful for small mercies: with 11 fry already, do I really need any more?

I tried to put in the past some females that were pregnant, but they became lonely and as I observed after placing back with the rest of the guppies, they became themselves again and gave birth to 12 frys, well one of the females did.
I guess they need encouragement from the rest...like how we are when we are about to give birth....lol. Well, that's what I think.

I don't think she ate her babies...because, I kept a close eye on her.....I sometimes stay up, just to watch...so I could transfer the litters into the nursery.

I also doubt that mine ate her babies. Sh never even acted remotely like she would give birth actuually. And she is in my home office where there either I or my staff is present 24 hours per day. Obviously with her in the maternity tank we watch her even more closely, everytime we walk by! And the bottom has MANY marbles. She regularly lives in my community tank, and there is a ton of plant, marbles, and hiding spaces big enough for babies only. The other femal has her babies in the community tank.
