I have 3 platies and 5 guppies ALL MALES so far in a 28 uk gallon tank.

1) One of my guppies likes to sit in the top corner of the tank, he does come out to feed, but otherwise just sits there. Should i be worried about him ? There are no other signs of ill health.

2) My two sunset platies seem to like to chase my tuxedo platy, should i get another male platy to be his buddy as the two sunsets seem to stay together always?

3) I live in Herts UK and would like to purchase in a months time some male Endlers, but they are never stocked in my lfs. Would someone recommed where i could buy them from, and do all males get on together like male guppies do, as i do not wish to breed.

Thanks in advance. :)

He may be being bullied, and hiding out for that reason. Is his tail or fins nipped, or anything? If you watch them, do the others seem to picking on him?

And for your Platy, yes, get another. If you have 3, usually 2 will gang up and pick on one. I'd get him another friend or 2.

For your third question...I don't know, I'm afraid I don't live in the UK. :) And yes, all Males will be fine. They are usually more peaceful then Guppies with each other.

My guppys fins are ok and i don't think he is bullied but who knows what goes on at night, they all seem to have their moments during the day so nothing serious.

As for my platy he is being hounded by the two sunsets it's like kill on sight :(
I'll get another hopefully tomorrow, poor lil fella got pinned in the sunken ship.

I can't understand why the lfs do not sell endlers as they are such beatiful fish. I will keep looking and maybe someone here can put me in touch.

Thankyou for your reply :)

Yeah, a lot of bullying usually goes on at night. Another question...does he have a big fancy tail? Because sometimes those Guppies won't swim much because their tail makes it difficult and pulls them down. :/

Is there anyway you can take that male Platy out of this tank? He is probably getting very very stressed, and you don't want him to die...he needs some solitary time to rest up before you could really put him back in the tank, even if you get another couple Platies. :)

The reason Endlers aren't so popular in fish stores, is beause they may be extinct in the wild. Some fish stores have them, though. At least, around here they do. You could try online though, because some have specialist breeders. Or check in the Buy, Sell, and Swap section here, as I have seen them for sale before.

I got two more buddies but to no avail, so i've taken the worst offending sunset out of the tank and i'm floating him in a tied bag on the surface of the tank water till i can take him back tomorrow, i felt i had no choice but to do this as i watched him all day pin my tux platy in the sunken ship, nipping him and chasing when ever he did venture out, which wasn't often, the sunset would wait hours just to hassle him.

Now i've bagged the offending sunset up the tuxedo platy is now swimming freely and the other sunset is leaving him be. Now all i have to hope for is the two new platies which are a rainbow and a white calico all get on.

Ah, sounds good. I was going to suggest that if these 2 didn't help, to take the worst one back. Sometimes a nice fish can be sucked into bullying by an aggressive one. Hopefully this will end your troubles! :D

At the beginning of the post, she said they were all male...so I assume the new ones are male, also. ;)
