i have a 10 gal tank i am currently cycling and i was wondering what is better platies or guppies
i have decided that i want
2 cardinal tetras
1 dwarf sucker fish
2 balloon mollies 2 mystery snails
1-2 african dwarf frogs
1-2 ghost shrimp

i cant decide if i want guppies or platties can i have both?

Platies generally have a better temperament - guppies can actually be a little aggressive.

Cardinal tetras are schooling fish and should not be kept in groups smaller than about 6 fish.

I would have to say.....Guppies.Why?well because they are probably the ones among all the american livebearers with the best personalities.Granted paties are beautiful and not only the males but females alike.Guppies remind me of ferrets just because of their inquisitive personalities;Always moving up down and seem to be happy fish.
These are just my thoughts.I personally think that you cant go wrong either way,but I have to be partial to my beloved gups.

platies mostly because of the reason alien anna said. Well if you want you could have both but that would eliminate snails and the african frogs if you got guppies. They'd get aggravated by them picking at them if they're not fed well. Go with platies.

Cardinal tetras prefer soft and acidic water, while livebearers, such as mollies and platies, like harder and basic water. I'd drop the tetras and just go with livebearers. I prefer platies over guppies, but that's just personal preference :).

I would say platies because believe it or not, but guppies are considered a pest in some areas and I just find them a little messy for some reason.

yeah i would go with guppies because they look better and do more than the other do and a little bit of aggresion is good in any world lol
