I have a 60 Litre tank with Male & Female Guppies, 1 plec and 2 corys. All has been great in the tank but just recently the females have been giving birth and then dying. Its really sad, I have not been putting them into a breeding tank but just letting them give birth in the tank and then catching the fry and putting them in a breeding tank. Has anyone any suggestions, please its really heartbreaking.

I'm afraid quite a lot of livebearers can die giving birth,Are the males constantly chasing and mating with them, this could be the problem.

Hi Thank you for your reply, the males are chasing quite a bit but I have 3 males and 12 females now, should I get more females?

12 females to 3 males is a high enough ratio already. Wow you're brave, you could have 12 lots of fry a month! Birthing is stressful for fish as it is for any livebearing species including humans. How do you know she is dying, how is she acting??
