hey, im new to the board, and i was wondering about the lifespan of a guppy and how old they are when they are ready to reproduce. thanks!

i think its about a year to a year and half and i think the guppy as to be month old or more maybe..... -_- not sure about when they get mature

hi auwill :D

my guppies usually start to breed when they are about 4 - 5 months old and they seem to live for about 2 - 3 years.

The higher the temperature, the shorter they live

The lower (not too low), the longer they live

I think 75 F is perfect but do raise it higher when the fish are pregnant

Thats what I was going to say! ARGH! You said it first!

Anyways, guppies are a fairly short lived species. They can last a few years but I noticed in mine that the females only last that long if there are more females than males and they are given time to recover from being pregnant. If they are constantly chased by the males they will be weakened after giving birth and can get diseases.
