Hi guys
Wondering if anyone could give me some advice, I recently added two female guppies, 1 pregnant, and one male to my tank, I'm fairly new to it all and after reading around the net I found that the pregnant fish should be seperated so all the babies aren't eaten.
I've made a makeshift breeding trap with some weed in it and placed the pregnant fish in it, at first she looked really stressed but after a couple of hours she seemed ok but I've come back from work today and shes been breathing really heavily for the last 3 hours, doesn't look happy at all, do they do that when they are giving birth or is the small space too stressful? I could create a really dense area of weed and let her back in to the tank would that be better? Also the male guppy died the next day and two tetra a week back I've taken a water sample to the 'real' fish shop - ie not petsmart where these little guys are from and they run every test and said it was fine.
ph ~ 6.5 temp 26 30l tall rather than long tank.
2 platys, 1 drawf gourami, two algea eaters, 4 neon tetra and some other tetras that Im not sure what they are called, look like little sharks. Sorry for the ignorance would appreciate any help
