I have a male guppy with a strange growth on his dorsal fin. It is a cluster of two or three little white bumps that look a bit like zits. The other guppies are picking on him, so i'm moving him to a quarantine tank today. Any ideas on what this might be or how to treat it?

It could be fungal but it would be best if you provide us a picture so we can give you an exact identification :]

Do the lumps look like there filled with fluid or hard looking.
Any redness to the lumps
Did the lumps just suddenly appear.

Cluster of berries or eggs on fins can also be viral lymthocystis.

I'm sorry, i don't have a camera at the moment.

No redness to the lumps. I don't know if they suddenly appeared, or if i just suddenly noticed them. Probably the later. Now that i've pulled him out of the tank and gotten a closer look i realize there are more than i first thought. Two clusters, one on each side of the dorsal fin, and it looks like some may be developing on his tail--right where it joins his body. They look fluid filled.

And btw, when i tested my water a few days ago, with an api test kit, my readings were: ammonia=0, nitrate=0, nitrite=0 and ph=7.8

All you can do is isolate the sick fish and try a bacterial med.
If the lumps burst then can infect the tank.

Also plenty of water changes of the main tank.
