Ive had 3 guppies, one male and two females for two weeks now, females were pregnant i think when i bought them. :hey: One of the females, who looks bigger than the other keeps sitting stationary on the bottom inbetween two plants. Every now and then she will go out and swim around with the others and when its feeding time, but then return to this spot, been doing it for the last 24 hrs. :/ Also flares at the neons i have when they get near to her. :grr: Is this a sign she is preparing to give birth? :good: She has a fairly large jet black gravid spot too...

hi,
yes im sure she is, to help her turn off lights until morning, its less stressfull, most of my females get grumpy when close to giving birth, when she has them it will be 4 weeks until the next batch, all the best donna :)

Thanks alot for the quick reply, lights have gone off now! :good: Will see what has happened by the morning, i dont have any plans to keep them in a fry tank, tank is heavily planted so hoping a few will survive! After the fry have been born will she return to having a smaller stomach? Then i will be able to tell whether she has dropped them or not. :D

hi,
yes it should look a lot smaller, they can give birth over a couple of days or all in one go, one of my guppy had 40 so you should have a few survive :good: .donna.

Dont think she dropped any last night, looks exactly the same, and gravid spot is still black. Maybe a false alarm
