So anyway i'm thinking to myself ,i have some black bar endlers and my mother has normal guppies. Why not mix them in a special tank on their own and see what happens. So i trek over-collect 3 female guppies and put them in this tank with one male endler. Within 3 hrs one of them is giving birth, obviously from being with males from my mothers tank. Funny how a change of water is enough to spur them on but they didnt even look settled in to me. Anyhow looks like i have some guppies to sell in the future- :good:

Well just don't sell any of them as endlers.

You get a right hotch potch of fry and you never know, you should rarely start with virgin females this way you know who's the dad and then you can back cross virgin fry with the dad to try to fix a specific trate you looking for, ie colour, tail, body shape etc etc.

This is how the tigers, pink endlers and other guppies have been produced.

just to add to helters post.....

To be sure of virgin females, you must leave them alone in a tank with for at least 5 months so you know she is definitly empty of sperm packets.

But they would not be virgin though!
If it possible to start from virgin (unbreed) fish it's much better.

Usually what is meant by virgin is of course a fish that never has had fry, but what i meant was...

When fry grow from young, if not seperated straight away, it is poossible they have got pregnant by other males (males gonopodium do only trake 4 weeks to become mature), ie, thier brothers (ciblins)...

I always leave my virgin females at least 5 months (before breeding them) after seperating them to be 110% sure they have not got caught.

Hope that explained what i meant.
