So i have a plump female guppy, but the past day or so shes been hanging up by the heater and she's developed white blotches...so im not sure if it's ich because they are kinda big blotches..sorry i left my camera in chicago so i can take pics..her fins are also a bit raggid, so i moved her out of the tank to treat her seperatley but she's just in a 1 gallon bowl..there is no heater or filter any advice?

the tank she was in is currently 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites, idk about nitrates though (no test)
in the tank i have
3 neons
1 male guppy
the sick female
a honey gourami
and a few fry (3 days old)

I've been treating with quICH cure but i was worried about overdosing because of the neons..i also used 'Parasite Clear' which is one of those dissolvable tablets.

I've put the bowl a few feet from my dorm room's heater so the temp wont get too low..should i add salt? how much? please help asap

the big white blotches are not likely to be whitespot (Ich). They sound more like mucous that is often caused by stress and poor water quality.
I would put her in a breeding net (or an ice cream bucket) in the main tank and do a partial water change and gravel clean each day for a week. See how she looks after that.
I would try to avoid any medications and other stress factors including moving her into an unheated unfiltered tank. That can make matters worse.

If she is/ was hanging around the heater then the water might have been a bit cold and she wanted more warmth for the babies developing inside her.

you say you have 3 day old fry, is this from the sick female guppy? is it possible then that, if she is still plump, a fry may be stuck in the birthing tube blocking it and she is in distress?? 3 days is a long time and by now id guess the fry inside her would be dead/dying too so you'd have to act quickly?

no the fry were from a another female..the water quality is fine...temps at around 79 or so so i dont understand how bad water quality could be the problem..my boyfriend and i are buying a hospital tank tonight, but i fear it will be too late:-\

did the other female die or os she in another tank? you didnt mention her in the tankmates so just wondering, if she died, did she have any symptoms?

she died...about 12 hours after giving birth, i suspect the male got over agressive trying to mate with her again but she didnt have any spots or anything.

i did a 50% water change and sifted the gravel...but now the waters all cloudy the babies are doing perfectly fine. i'm buying a small filtered tank just for the fry when they get a bit bigger and i'll use that as a hospital take in the female is still alive...
