About two day's ago I looked in my tank to see one of my female guppies was unusually large, but not massive.
She didn't look like she was pregnant, she was more of a rugby ball shape.
Her scales were sticking out slightly on the sides of her body, she is still alive and feeding fine, but I wonder if she has dropsy? does anyone no of any pic's of guppies with this disease.
Any help would be appreciated.

7.5 gallon tank
one crab
two silver mollies
2 female guppies one male
a hell of a lot of molly babies

Sounds like dropsy to me my guppy had it we had to euthanase her. Dropsy is usually caused by something and by the time it shows through it's usually too late. I don't think there's a cure you could try a salt bath sometimes that will help but it's probably an internal infection or something that has triggered it

Now she has a strange yellow spot on her belly, does this mean it is not dropsy?

Would it be possible to get a picture of her? It would really help with the diagnosis.

Well I got her out of the tank and qaurintined her in a small jug of tap water, mixed with hot.
I was going to terminate her, but decided against it and left her in the jug overnight.
I have no spare filter/heater or tank, s it would have to do.
I can definatley say it looked like dropsy, I have seen pics around and it's just like it.
Remarkably she seems a lot better this morning, just swimming in her jug.
I think the cause could be stress, as my other female guppy died so there was only one getting chased by the male.
Luckily on of my first guppy fry is nearly fully grown so that should occupy the male.
I will tell you when she is back in the tank.
And I might do a picture later

Good luck. Dropsy is usually fatal. I've only been able to save one guppy that had dropsy and she ended up dying of something else later. :/

She is dead now, may she rest in peace.
And by the way guppy mommy I like your guppy diary.
