Hi following a recent post of mine...

I've got one female who's been placed into a separate birthing tank for the past few weeks as she appeared quite heavily pregnant.

Over the past 2 days she's been sitting on the bottom very still and also at the surface next to the moss.

Her stomach seems to be about the same, as is the black dot.

I'm just curious to know if theres anything i can do to help things along, or is it just a matter of patience? Just seems to be taking a while now!!

Just wait. Dont do big water changes that will scare her, and give her time. She will birth when ready.

How big is this birthing tank?

You can up the temperature 2 degrees, this will help speed it along a bit although there is no need to rush her.

I just use breeding traps, put them in for 2 days max, if she doesnt have them then i put her bk in tank, if she has them in the tank, then i just fish out what i can.. JUst keep an eye on her..

The best thing i have found is... heavily plant one corner or side of your main tank, let the fish have the babies in the tank and you will almost garauntee you will always find babies among the plants :)
