Guppy Birth

I just got done moving my older molly and guppy fry out of the nets and into a gallon. Put the nets up and was feeding big fish when i couldn't find one of my guppies. Finally found her hiding behind a rock was worried that she was sick when all the sudden out pops a fry. Got the net back out and went to catch baby and it's gone and other fish were now where the mom was so i'm betting it got eaten. Well I went ahead and put the momma in the net. Been about an hour and no more babies. She is swimming around in it and she is still big and a very dark gravid spot. Did i stress her out to much? Or does it just take awhile before she will release more?

Well she is having more so far 13 more. One was deformed the rest are swimming around and looking great. But i don't think she is done yet.

its great you got fry,i dont know if you have already but when mine are giving birth i turn off the light,its less stressfull for the mom.
let us know how many you get.

congratulations, if you didn't already know she could have up to 7 batches of fry every 4-6 weeks without a male present. just thought i'd warn you before you end up with as many as i have. (10 tanks full of guppies alone)

She had 17 in all. One got eaten in the tank and one was deformed. Course she could have had more before i caught her having them. Yeah i knew about them having them monthly (i have mollys that do this). Pretty much all of these are going to friends who asked for me to give them fish when guppy had babies. LOL I will probably only keep about 5. I dont even bother catching the molly fry unless someone ask. I call those live food for my angel fish. LOL

they are seperated as soon as i can tell, its just we had bout 8 females so we were geting about 2 lots a week
