Can I keep only male guppies? I don't want to breed. I have four males and they have been fighting almost constantly for about two weeks now. They are almost 3 months old. I don't think they actually want to hurt eachother. is this a territorial dispute? They are in a pretty light planted ten gallon with two corry cats. Should I put more decor in there. They still like to swim together. Or are they fighting over non-existant females?

Sorry, the temp is about 88 degrees ferenhight.

not 88, 78. I was not thinking.

I keep 2 together and they've been gay mates from day one (our first fish), more decor should help and if not either re-home some or try adding a few more :)

When you say fighting do you mean chasing each other around, flaring etc, the odd scrap, or do you mean actually taking massive chunks out of each others fins and tails?

If your guppies are all in relatively good shape then they are probably being fairly normal for guppies - just barging around showing off to each other and reinforcing the 'pecking order'.

If your fish are actually being damaged by it then you could try adding a couple more to spread the aggression, although depending on what cories you have you might not have room. I would definitely add more plants etc so they have spaces to hide every once in a while. If one fish in particular is being picked on you should keep a close eye on it as this might be because the fish is sick.

They are in good shape. They are chasing eachother around, flaring, and niping at eachother. I originaly had six, I tried rehoming two and the agression levels stayed the same. I will definitly get more decore. I have an albino cory and a green one. My lfs told me they'd grow to be about two inches long each. Is this true?
Thanx for your help.

The guppies will get to about 1", the cory catfish will get to about 2.5". You should really get some more cory catfish (atleast 2 of each species more, so 2 more albino and 2 more green.)

I put in some more plants and a few rocks, and they seem to love them. They are more interested in exploring now than re-aferming dominance :) .
