Hello everyone,
I have a reasonably newly established tank and was suprised to notice a few fry in the tank a few weeks ago  . I'm pretty sure that they're guppy fry and have at least 2 that have survived the other fish!

But then I noticed a couple of rather fat females and read about the black spot that shows guppies are pregnant and I think all 9 of my females have it! Oh my i'm gonna be a major guppy granny. I think i'll name the single male Randy!

Is it cruel not to use a breeding tank and just see how many survive? :/

I didnt have anywhere to put my little un's..so far baby mollies/platties and guppys are all doing fine in the main tank

its no suprise... gupps have fry every 28 days or so... they also can have 3 broods befor they need to mate agan....... every mature femal gupp i have ever seen has been prego. mommas eat there young... you may have had alot more fry than you have now when they droped..... plants can help ensure more of your fry make it threw teh first week..... after that teh other guppies you have will get used to teh fry and will not eat them. :D congrats on the babys!

EDIT:
Is it cruel not to use a breeding tank and just see how many survive?
only if you have no other option..... plants are cheap so if you can get som nice bushy plants... my fry love hornwart and red ludwigia....
