Last night i spotted my female in a plant with this huge stomache and gravid spot so i assumed she was pregnant and let her be b/c i have PLENTY of plants in the tank. My one other female was curious and came near and the other female sprung from the plant and bit the other female about 15 times rapidly around the fins in like 3 seconds...the female floated to the surface dead and the other female then returned to the aqautic plant and began giving birth to fry...these were guppies of course....it happened so fast i had no time to react to it  i then took the dead guppy out of the tank...i then discover her right fin was alsmost MISSING...i then imidiaty after giving birth to all her fry put the other female in the 2 1/2 by herself...this could have been a birth thing but ill leave her in there for a week to cool down :/ has anyone had this happen to their guppies???

:fish: Flora, my female guppy, acted very aggressive when she was pregnant. She always chased my female platy and female swordtail whenever she saw them. I was afraid that she might eventually kill them, but after she delivered her fry she calmed down. While she was in the breeding net, she ate most of her fry though! I only managed to save 4 of her fry and sadly watched her devour another other! I guess it's a motherly instinct to protect her unborn fry, but in the end she ate most of them.

Wow I've never had another female murder another female like that, but they definitely nitpick at the others and get really grouchy. Sorry to hear that. :/

like heather sweetness said I have never had one kill another one but they have gotten mad at each other before sorry the one died. :(

aggression shortly before a drop is pretty common in livebearers (the others have learned to steer clear of Big Momma when she's about ready  ). i've never experience one killing the other like that, but i suppose things happen

I bought 2 females at the same time, they were both pregnant and one morning I found one of them dead, wonder if the other had a go?
