I got a few guppys on sunday and one them didnt react well and was in shock.

Just be watching my guppy very care fully over the last two days and he looked like he had improved.

He ate this morning but hasnt eaten since and has moved to the top of the tank and is hovering.

Is this normal?

Is your tank still cycling? How long has it been set up?

It has been cycled. Its been set up for about 1 1/2 months

Stick to the same thread or it gets comfusing.
You have ammonia reading so do a water change.
How long has the tank been set up glolite asked.

I said i the post up their i did a 50% water change and now ammonia is down to 0.

I have answered Glotie question

Cheers

Ok.
Do you over feed.
What filter are you using.
Is eh still at the top of the tank.

It is swimming around a bit more now.

I put flakes in for 2 -3 mins and then take what ever is left out.

How long did you climatise him as shaking can also be something to do with temp.

Would he still be shaking now.

About 1 hour

Always best to check the fish bag water in ph and temp so you know how long to climatise for.

Ahh. Yeah i didnt do that.

Thanks for that

Just read this to rule it out.

Shimmies

Symptoms:

This disease is named for the curious behavior seen in afflicted fish. Fish will swim with an odd, shimmying movement of the body. If left untreated, the afflicted fish will become unable to swim and will sit on the bottom, listlessly shimmying. This disease affects mostly livebearers, and particularly Mollies.

Cause:

Cause unkown but may be due to a variety of numerous pathogens, including protozoan, bacterial, and fungal.

Treatment:

Isolate the fish in a hospital tank and increase the temperature to 85°F (27°C). Treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic. Also ensure that the water chemistry is within acceptable ranges. Livebearers' should always be kept in water that has a pH of 7.8 - 8.3 and a hardness of 15°DH+.

He does it sometimes but most of the time he is completeley fine it is only when i do a water change or go move the light slighty

Ok if no improvement in a day or two get back to the board.
You might not have climatised him properly.
The ammonia reading wouldn't of helped either.
