I would'nt move any pregnant fish to a breeding trap, as 1, they are more death trap then a birthing trap, and 2, the fry will be seriously stunted in growth if they are reard in these.

The other thing I wantted to say is I have a mollie that has looked like what you have descived for 2 weeks nows, so sometimes it not the best way.

It's better to get a small rearing tank of about 10 gallons. This way there is room for the fry to grow out in and hide in.

Also, if you want to move the mother before she drops, only do it a week before she drops because the stress might force her to either abort or eat her own fry. This stress might also result in death (because of the birth, pestering by other fish when reintroduced, cramped spaces, transit).

ow no dont get me wrong i ment just to have a breeding trap to get all the fry then when they are 24 hours old and free swimming then move them to a biger tank thats what i do and it works every time with no deaths

No problem then. But the female is still stressed out though. If possible, just try putting her in the tank where the fry are supposed to be. (The flaw I see is that you probably already have fry in there that she would eat. If so, then what you are doing seems to be the best course to take.)

I have my fry tank devided. So I can have more than opne litter on the go.

would post a pic but dunno how.

my my sig give you and idea on what I have in each section. :D
