Hi could someone tell me if it would be cruel to have 4 male guppies and no females ? Or would it be in the best interest to have both male and female  I don't want any babies ( that would turn into a emergency topic for me  )

It is not cruel per se- certainly not more cruel than producing unwanted fry- but there is a risk of aggression when you keep all males. The best ways to avoid this is to have a large number (5 is often mentioned as a sort of minimum) and to provide plenty of cover for an inferior individual to hide.

Thanks for replies :)

I got 3 male guppies and they were fine together mostly. At least until they got eaten down to one :p
Thanks (who ate them)

I'm not sure as yet, i'm thinking it was my bichir though as he's grown extremely rapidly as the other two disappeared and yet the other bichir i removed yesterday was the same size as when i'd got him. So the prime suspect is still swimming around in there. Looks cool :D
