Yesterday I bought my first ever fish, 3 male guppies.

I brought them home and released them in the tank to find that one of them had a split in his tail. I was certain taht I didn't notice this when he was in the shop, so it must've been something that happened in the bag or in my tank.

Then this morning I awoke to find that the fish has more of his tail missing around the split and is now just lying at the bottom of the tank.

Then I came back from work today and noticed that another of the guppies has a sort of 'zig-zagged' tail, but seem to be swimming fine, is this a problem or is this just how he was born?

The 3rd one seems to be ok I think

What should i do?!

Thanks for any and all of your help

Thankyou

C

What are you water stats for ammonia, nitirite, nitrate and ph?
Did you acclimatise the fish before putting them in your tank?

He's dead, found him lying at the bottom of my tank.

I've found that one of my guppies has been chasing the other one trying to nip his tail, he is CONSTANTLY doing this. Could this have been what caused my other one to die?

How can I stop this from happening, I thought of possibly creating more hiding places, or buying more guppies to 'spread out the agression'

My levels are:

ph 7.6

Kh 6

GH >16d

Nitrite 0

Nitrate: about 20
