Guppies, What Keeps Happening

yesterday we got 30 guppies from afriend. i think it is too much but they wanted to get rid of half of the ones they had. when we put them in the tank they were fine but today 8 of the females have died. its only the females though what could have happened?

I'm no fish expert but I do know it'll be helpful to know your tank size and water parameters. (-: We need to know how many gallons your 30 guppies are in, whether your tank is cycled, if there are other fish in the tank, etc etc. (-:


Even if all is well, it could have just been stress from the move or if, as you say, it is too many for the tank. If you have 30 guppies, I really hope that is a large tank; 55 or more most likely. [/doesn't feel like doing math]

What sie is the tank?
Is it cycled?
What other fish are in there?
What are your water parameters? (Ph, ammonia, nitrate, nitite)
