3 times in a row now, my female guppies have died after giving birth. I noticed last night, that one female had retired to the hiding place, but when i checked on her again this morning, she was dead, and I have lots of guppy fry in my tank.

Any ideas whats going wrong?

I've got more pregnant females and don't want this to happen again!

I used to have the same problem - Are your females moved into a gender specific tank ?- when the females are getting ready to go into labor they secret a hormone and the males start harassing her because instinct tells them to kill the newborn fry because they may have been sired by a different male. I now have my females in one tank, my males in another, and once a week / once every other week I allow a male to "visit" my female tank for a "date" to mate with the females. He has one day then I put him back in the bachelor pad. :) If I notice a female is extremely pregnant I skip the "date" so that he won't target and harass her when she is so close to labor.

hope this helps your girls!!!

i have been haveing a problem like this my guppy becomes like 5 days away from giveing birth and she suddenly doesn't become pregnant anymore its werid i think its cause of my male bothering her she aborts

Just had it happen again
Another female gave birth yesterday, and she's dead today.
Thats 4 in a row

Sorry to hear that, are you putting them in a trap? this can stress guppies big time if left in there,

Did you get all your guppies from the same supplier/lfs?
