I have a 75 gallon tank
change water every 2 weeks 25%
normal temp for tropical
treat every week with water conditioner, bacteria conditioner(the all purpose one), and garbage eliminator
have rocks and plastic plants inside

I haven't had a problem in a real long time after dealing with ich
but now a few of my guppies have been dying

at first it looks like their twisting, their bodies are bending
and some of them have sores on them, like red pimples
then they die

any idea what it is?
please?

with a magnifying glass have you noticed any tiny things near the water line in the tank or maybe swimming, it might be a form of lice, someone with a bit more knowledge should be able to help you out more

ill check but i dont think so,
its really wierd how they seem to curve their bodies, and the lumps start to grow

ya that sounds like it, thanks...i just hope it didn't effect any of my other guppies

The red pin pricks is septicemia.
Is the spines bent.

I would take a look here.

LOL Wilder you think everythings TB!!! or am i just attracted to dying guppy threads

I say it in jest, but have noticed this, be careful or you will start mass panic!!! I am just being humorous really, sorry to detract, you have been very helpful to me Wilder, and i enjoy reading your informative posts and links, just couldnt resist this, honestly, not having a "dig" i promise!!!

I guess you thinking about the spines being bent? To be fair i knew nothing about TB in fish until i came to this forum for feedback on my Molly problem.

ULTRAMAGNUS - sorry about this, distressing. But the amount of times Guppy's are all "dropping off" like this despite what "appears" decent water conditons and no other species being affected... not sure if thats true for you as well???

I stopped buying guppies from shops or even random peeps about 5-6 months ago, got myself a load of "wilds" and "F1s" (and let them breed together) off a great guy who goes to Mexico and such places and does collections and then breeds them at his home (Welsh guy -Wilder do you know him, some peeps do?), i now have no dirty disease carrying LFS guppies in my flat!!!! whoppeee!!!! and guess what, a lovely thriving live bearer set up.

PS - if your guppies are NOT LFS it kinda takes away some of my head of steam here!!!

good luck

Sorry I know don't just guess, leave a link for the fish keeper to take a look at, so the fish keepers can decide.
The symtoms match, just wanted to make sure they had bent spines.
Livebearers can be born with bent spines and thats fine, but if they just bend one day it fish tb to internal parasites.
I know longer will keep guppies not worth the risk, always ill when buying them from an lfs.
Best to find a respectable breeder of guppies.

, i agree, by leaving links sometimes it allows the person to (a) gather more facts and (B) even if it doesnt turn out to be that issue, you learn something anyway.

I didnt know the red marks was likely to be septicemia but it make sense, i have seen an awful lot of LFS guppies (mostly females develop this) especially when heavily pregnant or just having given birth. I myself have also noticed a trend that its the slightly "larger" guppies that get this more often, which i think might be due to the dodgy breeding habits in order to get them bigger in the first place? Perhaps anyway

Red spots on skin can be caused by:
Regarding the small red dot, small pinprick like haemorrhages (called petechiae) can be due to a local lesion, a generalised septicaemia or toxaemia caused by acute viral and bacterial infections.

Once fish blow up there organs have failed so septicemia sets in as its blood poisoning, septicemia and dropsy go hand in hand.
Not easy on the medical side, can't see the fish, can't do tests on them lol, all you have to go on the fish keepers info.

so what do i do...it was acutally 2 of them that had the spots, one was really bent in the back, that one died, the other was pretty much floating liflessly around and cuodn't keep any balance at all. I had to remove it, I couldn't watch it suffer any longer.

Where do I find lfs guppies from...and what does that mean>? where can I find a guy like you buy from?

I haavee to agree, guppies are a bit of a nightmare, EI stopped keeping them a long time ago due to exactly the same problems.
You might try treating with an internal bacteria solution (that was what I was advised) but in my experience this didn
t realy have any effect.
Sorry.

I agree try a bacterial med.
I won't buy lfs guppys, try and find a local breeder of them.
Good luck.
