Any advice please !
I have a 30 litre biorb which has been up and running for 4 months. After the initial problems getting the tank to cycle the tank tests good for the past 6 weeks. I regularly test for Amminia, Nitrites, Nitrates and PH and everything looks good.
The tank is heated to 26C (78F). There are no real plants in the tank.
The tank has had just 3 guppies (one male two female) and 2 tetras initially and this was going well.
One month later I added 3 more guppies (one female and 2 male) and one swordtail ( these were purchased from a different shop than the originals)
But, about a week after adding them the swordtail suddenly died .. I hadn't noticed any warning signs and there is no sign of disease.
About 3 days after that another of the new male guppies suddenly died.
I then performed a 25% water change adding a little aquarium salt, rinsed the filter with the old water and replaced it.
Now, today I have noticed that one of my original male guppies is seeming very ill. It is hiding, motionless inside the rockery and doesn't even come out for food. In fact, I thought it was dead but was surprised to find it moves when the rockery was disturbed.
However, when the rockery wa replaced it hid inside once again immediately and plays dead.
I am afraid that te new fish may have introduced a disease, but I don't know what or how to treat it am worried that i may lose all my fish.
By the way, the last shop I purchased the fish from had much less fish than they used to stock. Its now making me think that perhaps they had problems and I should not have shopped there.
Any advice please ? Although I think it may be too late for the latest casualty.
Thanks, Clive
