ok so about 2 months ago i bought 2 male guppies, orange generic looking ones. but cute. then about a month and a half later i got a new one to go with them a bright shiney blue fancy if u must say guppy. it has really bright blue color. as soon as i added him to the tank the other two had established comorodory and wouldnt accept him. then the other day i found that one bit his tail off. so i moved the agressive orange fish into a bowl....on his own while the blue fish could get more aquouintaed with the other guppy. have u ever heard that regualr and fancy guppies dont mix??? anyways. if someone could help with some advice...i dont want to have to get rid of one of them or have them die

It could have been that since one was a regular and not as colorful as the fancies, he was easy competition against the other males. Different species of male animals have flaws that the females look for when choosing a mate. In the case of guppies, it's usually their colors. It could have been that since there where more guppies of the orange coloration, they rejected the blue one because he was different...guppies are such racists

Hmmm... these forums are so educational!
Didn't know guppies would do this.
We have some gups in our main tank right now that are very aggressive towards eachother. Well not so much anymore, they chase eachother... and we have 3 more sitting in our quarantine tank waiting to be added... I guess I'll have to watch them to make sure they don't start picking on eachother too much when the new ones are added!
There aren't any females in the tank.. so hopefully won't feel the need to compete with eachother.
