Ok looking at getting some guppies...
but i like platties and swordies too....
which is the more gentle of the 2?
i have a "fish room" originally for my betta's but at the moment im pulling much more toward livebearers....
so ive got no fry and a 50 gallon grow out tank cycled but empty...

are swordies or platties more colourfull and which is more gentle?

platy are generally more gentle IME but they both come is similar colours as most are hybrids of the two

As I've learned, platies and swords are pretty same in color, though male swords and platies are semi-agressive to each other. I've had first hand experience with three male platies. (Damn you Amar! How dare you kill my other platies!) Livebearer ratio is good there. 1 male to 3 female. Also, if you are crossbreeding swords and platies, best to have male platy to some female swords.

Guppies come in so many beautiful colors and tail types. Sword males do get agressive fight with other males.
If u want babbies fast get guppies. If u want alot a babbies get platys and swords. The thing is though platys and swords can interbreed.

All 3 come in very diffrent colours and you can get some very fancy ones also, most of the times if your ratio is right, you wont really get aggresion.

Guppies tend to be the weaker of the 3 and swrods the most hardy going by years of breeding them personally.

If i was you though i would lean more towards swordtails or platys, guppies now a days are so weak unless you get tank bred ones.

Good luck :)

hmm thanks....
ill go on a trip up to llay this wednesday or thursday and get some gorjus platties
