my current tank has been running for just under a month now, and recently i've been noticing that on all the rubber bits in the tank eg suction scups, rubber seal on my heater are accumulating a translucent white gunge on them. does anyone know what this is / is it harmful? how can i get rid of it other than manually removing it?
i've wiped them all off several times and it keeps coming back

hi i havent got a clue ,are you sure its not lime scale cos my heater builds up with it
if not some one with a bit more know how will help you with it on here

I get the same. Its not harmful just a bit unsightly. I think its just generally nutrients and waste buildup which will probably turn to limescale like deposites. Just give it a wipe off when you do your tank maintenance and it'll be fine :)
