The local fish store (not pet store, where you would expect them to say things like this) told me today the there is no such thing as a pygmy cory cat! That all cory cats get to be about the same size, 2-3" and there are no smaller ones.
This would be why I have to depend on this forum and the local pet store...

is the LFS a local supplier or a chain store

wot an idiot did he insist he was right even after u told him there was such a thing

He's a local, and an a** on top of it. He was pretty rude even before we got to the pygmy cory cat deal. I said, "oh really? I saw a website about them earlier today." He just said "humph. they all get to be about 2-3"."
I just said, ok thanks. and hung up. No use talking to someone like that IMHO.
He didn't seem to interested in talking to me either though, so I guess it didn't hurt his feelings any. The amazing thing is that the local pet store that is a chain store has more knowledge and is much nicer than that place. It just amazes me...

Disgruntled lfs employees. :p

But I suppose you cannot expect all hirees at lfs to know anything about fish.  Was it lf or ps?

Well, that is why you do research here and never ask them questions. :p

It was the at the lFs that this happened. The sad thing is, I've been in there many times before (I have an outdoor pond and have always gotten my things from there), and it is actually just 3 grown men who have always worked there. If it were a new employee or a young person working part time there, I would expect it, but not from the folks who've been working there for years! Like I said earlier, the lady at the lPs was the most knowledgeable and helpful one yet around here.
And you're absolutely right about not asking them the questions!

Maybe he was confused? Cause Pgymy Cory cats(i beleive) are not the same species as regular Bronze corys, Panda Corys ETC. They are a different species of Catfish.

Bronze cories aren't the same species as panda cories either :p ;)
I do think pygmy cories are in the same genus though, if that's what you mean

Hi fishwatcher :)

There are 3 different species of pygmy corys:

C. pygmaeus:

C. habrosus;

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/calli...ydora/482_f.php

C. hastatus:

They are all cute little things. Perhaps if you print these out and bring them into the shop they will be able to get some for you. If not, there is always AquaBid.

With about 300 different species of corys, I guess he must have overlooked these little guys.
