How long would it take for a peacock gudgeon hatchling to grow to apx one inch. Females only reach up to 1.5-2.5 inches while males reach up to 3 inches... I just dont want to keep them in a breeder box for like 3 months non stop

Don’t you have a 10 gallon? Maybeeeee you could grow them out in there?
I do, but its cycling and it needs a heater still... Its about 70°F with no heater and my main tank runs at about 78°F... Thats why I got a breeder box so I could still keep them in my main tank but keep them separate from the parents... If my 10g was all set, I would TOTALLY put them in... Its just not ready yet and not enough decor for them to hide in...

Why are you not going to leave them in that huge tank with Mum and Dad, rather than put them in a prison cell?

Cause they be sushi for mum and dad

I just want to keep them in there until they are a bit bigger and can fend off their parents... As long as they can hide fast on their own really

I can also see how the parents react to them through the screen netting

Gudgeons are meant to be good parents just like Cichlids are.
Well apparently not peacock gudgeons... The female tries to eat the eggs whenever possible but the dad does guard them... Sadly, Apx 36hrs after hatching the male gudgeon will START viewing them as food... Sure, he may care for them now but later on they will just be food

2-3 months under ideal conditions.
6 months or longer if conditions are not good.

Ideal conditions are: warm water 28C
Feed 3-5 times a day and make sure they are fat and look like pregnant guppies.
Big daily water changes and gravel cleans.

I cant do the big water changes if they are in the breeder box but I will do everything else!
