Ever since I added the damsel and fed them flakes, my GSPs started to eat it too. So as an experiment, I dropped some pellet food made for cichlids. At first, they looked at them but didn't eat them. But since 2 days ago, they are really loving these tablets. I can hear them lound & clear munching on them from the other side of the room so I'm assuming they're great to keep their teeth short too.

Is it unusual for them to eat flakes and pellets normally? Puffers I've had before never did.

Puffers main diet is meat, you should be mixing up with varieties of crustacian, bloodworm etc....Flake isnt a stable diet for puffers.

Flake shouldn't be a stable diet for any fish truly, but puffers can live on flake with no problems at all, the ones that will eat it that is.

What that makes no sense, you say not stable for fish then say it is good (no problems) for fish?

I would have to say a Puffer eating flake and pellets is rare indeed. As fasinating as it may seem the Puffers should really be on a meat filled diet. If you want your Puffers to get there veggies I recommend gut loaded shrimp.

The point I've made is, is that you can feed most fish on flake food all it's life without any problems, but you should really vary the diet.
