Hi

I have had my GSP for about 4weeks now it was 1.5 " long, now it looks a littel closer to 2" I thought the tank (15G)had been cycled with the use of filters from my other tanks (all freshwater) I slowley built up the SG to 1.008 - 1.010

It is a great little feeder and a great fish it feeds from my hand very well and has a fantastic appetite mussels snails prawns crab.

I have a vision 260 downstairs that over time i would like to move my GSP in there.

The filters are the one that is standard on the Aqua one 60 plus I use a fluval 2 also

I had been checking stats with a freshwater kit so I now know i had the wrong readings, after purchasing a saltwater kit I have foung my readings to be

PH- 7.8
Amm .25
Nit - 2.0
Nitrate 40ppm

I am totally gutted with these results I am now in the middle of doing 50% water change I just want to know if i will have to do this every day.

I know GSPs need the water to be perfect so I am looking for advice on how to try to help the situation that i put myself in.

Over the past two years I have mointored my freshwater with no probs and am gutted at the thought of loosing this great fish.

Help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

there really isnt much you can do other than water changes until your filter cycles. Your other option is to get a mature filter from a brackish tank of similar SG.

Thanks i will keep up the water changes, will 50% be to much every day?

and do i still have to add the same amount of salt every time?

I was adding one cup for 15l which was giving me 1.010 SG

Thanks again.

just use a hydrometer far easier. I use 100grams @ 26degrees per 11 litres for 1.006
