If I go away for say up to 5 days I just leave my fish be. Give them a nice big feed of bloodworm just before I leave. If I'm gone any longer I write lenghtly instructions for my mum/friend of the family so that they know exactly what to do and how to do it.
If we go away for a long time we usually have 2 people that come in and out for the pets at different times of day... When we do I make a chart so They can see if somebody else has already fed them. (Also includes all the other pets on it eg walked dog, let out bird, etc etc)
you should remember that some females are a bit squimish about touching dead bodies
Not females... males too I remember the time my mums goldfish was on its last fins and I took it out to "relieve it of its pain" but some friends were over. Out of the three of them, two of them squealed from just me picking it up.
There is another reason you shouldn't pay her now you can say you are going to use the money that you were going to pay her with to replace the two fish she killed.
