Since I lost that bid my mother wont let me get a pair off the net:( She says If I want to breed I have to go to the store and get a pair there

Have you explained to her why it's not a good idea to breed petstore bettas?
Some of the more experienced folk here should type out why it's not a good idea, then you can get your mother to read this thread so she'll know why and hopefully let you get a pair online :)

Try buying from Petfish? His bettas look poorly in the pictures but I got a pair from him and they were fine. They only cost $28 and he added a male SD and a female VT in for free, so I only had to pay $7. He has some awesome pairs up a lot, and he's in California.

I just realized how much of a shameless advert that was. :shifty: But, yeah.

I've heard A LOT of bad things about him, people getting the wrong fish, fish that were dead and never hearing from him again, fish that were diseased, etc. I don't know, I wouldn't trust him.

I could just be biased. :dunno: I've never bought from anybody else. He seems to get a lot of good reviews.. but I don't know, to be honest.

Its deffineltely not a good idea to breed petstore bettas go on bettatalk and get ur mum to read the part on buying the fish.
Good Luck.

Then maybe you shouldn't worry about breeding at all until you can do it properly with the proper fish.

I can do it properly its just I am missing the proper fish part of it.lol

do jobs round the house for her lol.Your bound to lose bids because theres people that will pay serious money for a fish.

If you're using your own money, I don't see a problem, just tell her she doesn't have to do anything, you will pay for the fish, and there will be no problems, because you can take care of it, always worked with my parents, and if you can't get them, why not wait, and try to convince her in the process?

Good luck anyhow :good:

Jaded is right. Make the most of the ones you have, read up on breeding, research fish and one day you might be like Cracker :good:
