K so I have sme java moss and had it sit on rocks and such and it just dont cling to nothing. Plus teh fish moves it around every once i awhile.

Anywys i have a rock and i want to grow something on it other then algae lol. Something like moss or hairy like so the fish can sit onthe top of the cave.

:)

Also something that does well in low light.

Hi,
I have some java moss in my tank and in order to attach it too a piece of wood I used some thread and tied it down. It took a couple of weeks but now the moss is clinging on its own. Hope that helps.

Grrr.. java anything... :sly: actually that last info was helpful in my pursuit of getting my java fern to cling to my rock. :D I didn't know how long it took until just now! thanks so much!

Good luck with that Moss... I'll keep checking back to see how it goes (I'm planning on getting some next!) ;)

If your rock is small enough, try covering it and the moss with a black or brown hair net. Now i know u have one in your sock draw so no arguments about availability!

Just leave it in for a couple of weeks, maybe a month. As a matter of fact i didnt take my hair net off my rock till i wanted to chuck it out! :p

I dont know any other low light moss/algae so will leave u in the dark over that one... :D

Thanks for the info.

Hopefully the thread doesnt hurt the water that I used. Anyways tied it to the top of my cave and check it next water change and tank cleaning to see if it stuck lol.

Been trying for weeks. maybe it doesn't like it lol

I've never gotten java moss to stick to anything except the filter intake.. Seriously. Now it's actually big enough it really doesn't float around anymore unless I'm doing a water change.

What is the object your actually trying to adhere the moss too?
A fake rock formation. I want it on the roof.

I tied it up this morning. Ill give it a week and see what happens.

Mine took a couple of weeks to really stick well, thread or a small piece of lead should work!

here is a pic of it with the thread holding it down. I want the top of the cave covered in this stuff. Like a bed for a fish ahah.

Just tie it on there with thread and give it time, it will eventually adhere, you just need to be patient.

Hey I have that rock  Don't use it anymore since I only use real stuff.

I wish I could even FIND java moss, they don't sell it around here for some reason.

I know what u mean, that would be awsome! But compared to some stories ive heard, mine is pretty slow growing, i mean, it grows, but not like a rocket, so youll just have to hold out. Maybe a fortnight - month. It will look sweet once u do though. :)
