So I noticed Ich first on my 6" clown loach. I dosed the tank with Mardel Coppersafe. Now a week later I'm noticing more ich than I originally had AND noticed it spread to my oscar. The temp is up to 82f and I don't wanna go any higher. I gave the coppersafe a full dose. Mardel claims that it stays in the tank for 1 month but surely they can't expect a person to wait 30 days for it to kill off ich.....Just based on the ich lifecycle I shouldn't be seeing new ich spots on my fish right?

That means ur brand isn't working very well usually with the right medicine ich will be clear in 3days-1week max. Do a 50% water change and switch brand. Or maybe u r dailing with a more resistant ich parasite. Try to switch to some other brand and move sick one to a 10g-20g hospital tank and cure them there. Oh dont forget to get ur ative carboon back to run 24 hours before use other medicine. Jungle and Super ich cure work pretty well. But the down side is that u must put them to hospital tank to cure else u might wand up lol 200+ drop for a single tank that was insane.

The problem I'm facing is my options of cures are limited as the seals on this tank are clear and I won't stain them green with something based on malachite green (such as maracide like I'd normally use)

I'm really more curious to see what the experience of people who've used copper based treatments to see how long it took for them to lose the ich.

If there's a 3rd alternative out there that'll kill the ich but not stain my tank seals I'm interested.

Pretty honestly if thats the case y not just move the fish as u dont want to stain ur main tank's seal. But good old salt + temperatre is a good way to kill ich with out staining anything of ur tank. But there r other ways that dont require medicine to remove ich but involve more tanks(this is from fish hobby magazine I read every monthes that require acturally pretty much no medicine).

#1
Transport treatment which involve u to have 2 tank minimum(not include ur main tank) so every 12-24 hours u can move ur fish to ur other tank while clean up the one they left behind. They perfer 6-7 small tank to do this but seriousely who will have that much. This way when adult ich parasite hatch ur fish will probably already be on the next tank and while nothing to host parasite will get clean out or die off. And ur fish remain unharm. The treatment goes for 3 days and generally require no medicine at all. Down side is might stress the fish.

Current treatment require a tank(not ur main tank) with very very strong current maining 2+ perhead flush water like mad. This is use to prevent the fish from getting the parasite again. As the current is so strong water, parasite can not able to attach them self to the fish.

This is just some opinion since I dont use copper. They tend to have some other effect that I dislike when treating. Maybe some copper user might be able to help u out.

Here is a useful link about copper base medicine to clownloaches

IF i were you i wouldn't be adding medications to the tank. Stop doing that, put in carbon and do a water change. Then raise your temperature to 85-86, it will speed up the life cycle of ich so fast it will starve and dieoff, the fish can handle these temperatures it is i have treated most of my fish tanks if one breaks out in it which is not often anymore days.

Leave it like this for like a week, you should significally see changes, i would do this before adding any medications to the water as those are much harder on your fish. Here's information showing your clownloach won't even have a problem in those high temps:

like most of my cichlid tanks are kept at 83 to keep ich at bay, good precaution to take.

so the clown loaches are VERY covered.
The Jack Dempsey now has ich on it.
I did a 40% roughly water change and redosed with coppersafe.
Temp is now at 86.

Anyone know for sure if 86 degrees just speeds the lifecycle or if the ich actually can't live at that temperature?

i have successfully cleared up the ich in my coldwater tank using intrepet white spot plus. It started working over night and now the tank is ich free. might be worth a look if the temp thing doesnt work
