My Balloon Mollies are a bit over a month old, and my Red Wag fry are about a week old.

About how long until they grow around 1" to 1 1/2"?
(My LFS says they need to be about 1 1/2" before they will buy them)

I've never kept Balloon Mollies so I can't help you on that one. For the Platies, they can get that length at anywhere from 3-12 months or even longer. My Red Wags are about that size, and they are going on 6 months. They probably were around that size as early as 3-4 months though.

It comes down to what you feed them mostly, and tank size. If you have them in a breeder net, I'd take them out. That can stunt their growth. I'd also make sure you are feeding them fairly often, alternating in high protein foods and veggies. Fresh, clean water is always appreciated too.
