I have had an scalare angel for two years now. I had bad advice and this fish ended up in a cycling tank and endured some bad water conditions. I managed to cure a nasty fin fungus/rot infection (columbnaris) using antibiotics. For the past year this angel has been in a very clean 21g tank all by herself, and very healthy, even laying eggs by herself. I keep it clean and nitrate below 10ppm.

She has develped a growth on her upper lip and it has been slowly growing for 6-12 months now. Will this be a problem in the long term? I am wondering if this fish should be culled for humanitarian reasons or if this will be ok in the long term.

Thanks so much,
Cheers!

Sounds like it could be a lip fibroma. A little do it yourself surgery usually takes care of it if the fish is having a hard time eating. Check out http://www.angelfish.net/yabbse/index.php?...y;threadid=8004
Ok Ive read that link. I would love to save this fish. I dont have the "fortitute" to do this surgery my self but I do work on a building with 90% veterinarians perhaps one of them would do it for me....\

Should I just leave it and hope it stops growing? It is growing very slow and only on the upper lip so the fish does not have trouble eating yet?
