growth on plants

Can anyone offer any advice. I bought a tank second hand a while ago and some of the plants I got as part of the deal had something growing along the edges of the leaves. They have started growing on the glass and in the gravel now. It looks very unsightly. Its dark brown in colour and looks like hair. It grows to about quarter of an inch in length. is there anything that can get rid of it. Any advice most welcome.

Hair algae. Sorry I can't help as I know pretty much nothing about how to deal with algae, but I'm sure someone else will be able to give you some advice
