woah, and you got it looking great  let me in on ur tank decorating skills

I've actually struggled finding sand for an aquarium, does it have to be anything special? or can you just buy ordinary sand from like a nursery?

Argos play sand every time mate, its in my 350L,250L,220L and all the smaller tanks. Make sure you wash it very very very well. As it play sand for children its safe for fish :good:

ok, thanks! does it change any chemistry by any chance cuz im keeping rather sensitive fish?

No mate its completely inert, have used it with my GBR's and many people on here use it with discus. Have a quick search for argos play sand on here loads of threads :good:

what sand did u use here cuz i dont rly like the brown colour of the argos p s

tis the same argos sand i always use, it's a very light colour once washed and in the water on all my tanks

only prob is i live in south africa so then comes shipping costs OUCH

Ah that i did't know that and there 15kg bags so that's a no no. I assume children's play sand must be similar so find your nearest stockiest and maybe give the maker a quick email see if inert

AAARRRGGG NOTHING, wait, if i go down to the beach and get some sand then rinse it, will it work? or will it make my water rock hard (LOL I mean like water hardness just btw)

In the uk it illegal so check your state before you do, the answer to the i have no idea but i bleive it not a great idea as you dont know pollutants have been on it

its not illegal here, the beach is right down the road from me and its quite deserted so i think maybe if I take a bit raise the temperature maybe it will kill most of the bacterias and in cape town their all a bit bored of the beach so no ones eva there, Lucky ME :shifty: as far as im conserned it will be fine from here but........ there is a risk, of a life maybe 2 maybe 3 being lost so I would rather not take my chances, should i just use gravel?
