Hiyas.... so this isn't my first post (as my first post was asking for help when my Paradise Fish jumped out, got some how taken across the house by my cat, and survived! I have the world's toughest fish ).
Anyways, I'm kinda a newbie to aquarium keeping. It's not that I haven't had an aquarium for a while, just I've never been that succesful at it (my tank for a while has had one fish, a horseface loach as he's the only one who has survived my care and I got paranoid about introducing something that would kill him off too. And as he's a horseface loach it seems my tank is empty). My second most succesful attempts at keeping fish were neon tetras (still not that succesful as they didn't get close to full life span but did last a few years). The other two types I ever put in the tank didn't live past a year - neon dwarf rainbows (prolly not a huge surprise) and dwarf gouramis.
I just recently added a paradise fish and I think I'm just going to keep the tank simple (and full of tough fish for the moment... though I really didn't want to test that theory).
It's a 20 gallon with a horsehead loach (yes I realize too small for it. Years back when I got hte fish I was told by salesperson it was fine, I knew nothing about fish and just took her word for it. So far he's done fine but I'm pretty sure he's stunted as eyars later I looked up the species and he's way smaller than their supposed max size. I know they are slow growers but I'd think after 3-4 years he'd be mostly full sized by now...plus he really hasn't grown much in a long time). Oh, and a recent addiction,a Paradise Fish (who hopefully will survive his little adventure. He acts fine now but his fins worry me as they are blakc on the edges).
Not sure I want to add anything more honestly (figure it's easier not to fill the tank to its capacity plus can't relaly think of anything to go with a paradise fish in a 20 gallon that already also has a horsehead loach and paradise fish in it). I think I'd rather have a few fish I really like than some decorative fish to make the tank pretty (which is good cause I hardly ever see the horsehead
