Right I see a good way to get ride of this is a 3 day blackout and a large water change after?

Will this harm plants?

Do I do a water change before the blackout to get as much as I can?

Not sure if the plants will be visibly harmed, although they certainly won't like it. You'll probably want to turn off CO2 during those 3 days as well.

How long have you had the green water, though? The one time I had it it disappeared on its own after a few days.

blackouts dont always work with green water.

It will harm plants because they need light to photosynthesize and they obviously wont be etting it but they will bouce back after a few days.

Yes, do a 50-80% w/c.

Best option is to run a UV filter on it, take a look in the algae guide in my sig.

well it could be as your tank is large, i had a 'fish r fun' 9w UV (for 180l) and was happy with it. £24 off ebay (usually £30). i have seen a 24w which you would need but it is £54.

have a look on ebay, firstly though i would try a a three day blackout followed by a large water change (80%) or if there is an imbalance in nutrients then fixing it will sometimes make it go away by itself after a while.

thanks
On my last day of the 3day blackout. hopefully This is enough to hurt it bad but if not will be getting one
