Hi all,

I've been away for the night and came back and found one of my green tiger barbs laid on it's side on the gravel.
Although, when I went to catch it, it swam away.

Now it's in a breeding trap as pictured below, nothing obvious up with him looking but he's just swimming below the surface. Although he's not as active as the other TBs I've got.

Have tried a cooked pea and also some of the usual food but not interested.

He can swim upright but is like pointing his nose up a little (as pictured).

Just done a test with Ammonia, Nitrite reading 0 with Nitrate at about 40. Planning to do a water change tonight as it's the usual time in the week for the 25%.

Nothing new added to the tank in the last two weeks. Tank mates are 9 zebra danios, 1 leopard danio, 4 Tiger Barbs, 4 Green Tiger Barbs.

I did start feeding them with blood worms last week - not often but twice in the last week.

New item in the tank last weekend was bogwood but that was boiled to death before going into the tank.

He's got much darker skin to that of the other Green Tiger barbs.

I did put a dose of Melafix in the tank last week (only once) as one of my other Green TB's had it's fin nipped but died so discontinued treatment.

Any ideas?

If its swimming is controlled then I presume its not its bladder.

Is is bloated or admoninal region coloured or not its usual shape ?

Usually when any of my fish lay on the gravel it was a very bad sign, but if its swimming normally.....

how old is the fish ?
