Can anybody out there please help,,,i want to know is coral sand,,and a ph of 7.2......7.6,,,good enough for a green terror fish,,,i have read one article that says one thing,,,then another that says something else,
The KH value in dKH is 14.4,,and the alkalinity is 5.14,
I want the water conditions to be right,,otherwise ,,whats the point in getting the fish,,,someone please help,.......many thanks all who help.

Your ph is fine, is this with the coral sand or without it? If its without, you dont need the coral sand, unless of course it drops considerably, personally I wouldnt add anything, including sand to a tank to stabilise the ph unless absolutely necessary. A stable ph, albeit higher or lower than the stated 'must have' ph is better than it flucuating.

GT are hardy cichlids, pretty adaptable, your main concern will be tank size and tank mates.

YOU MENTION TANK SIZE,,,WOULD A 42 GALLON TANK UK,,,,,IN YOUR OPINION BE BIG ENOUGH FOR 1 GT.

possibly by itself , they grow around 8 inch according to the species index.

I wouldn't do it personally. I've had someone say I might get away with a single Green Terror in my 48G, but I've decided to go with some alternatives. Just one fish in the tank doesn't seem like its going to much fun for long.

personally i think 42g is a tad small for a fish as big as a gt

it is a little small but then again people have them in 55G's with other fish which isnt that much bigger in size, maybe a few inch's taller/wider. solitary in a 45gish it would probs be fine , be boring like but better than what some people have them in.

well if the tank is at least 200 litres then you should be fine i have my GT in a 55gal which is 240litres or something and i have it with a senegal bichir an L200 and 6 congo's all is fine apart from my GT is seriously beating down on the congos so i am getting some filament barbs instead my GT is around 5-6" and it is really responsive IMO it helps to have some type of dither fish such as larger barbs as they help bring the social side of the GT out rather than it bein skittish and shy one thing i might add if the tank isnt much bigger than 200-240 litres i wouldnt add another type of cichlid as its too little room to separate aggression apart from tht then your good to go just make sure u have some kind of rock formation or anything else in tht matter which will provide a cave o yea and amazing filtration these guys S""T for england
